Geometree Art | SLJ
I did my third activity for SLJ is called Geometree Art.
The first step is to get a sheet of paper or use google drawing, then draw lines in shape of a tree, after draw small shapes to make it look like tree leafs, lastly colour in the shapes to make a geometree art.

This is the first activity for Summer Learning Journey for Panmure Bridge School, it is called Art Colouring Book - Nasa Edition. There would be nine pictures that are linked with Nasa or space, you would pick one picture then colour it in.

Week 4 | Fractured Fairytales
The first I step I took was looking back at my two fairy tales I did last week, I made a few changes to the story. The only things I changed was the characters and the settings in the story.
Next I wrote down all the parts of the story and changed parts of the story.

SSR Selfie
The main characrter was Maui.
When Maui emerged he managed to convince his brothers to row out to the deepest part of the ocean, where he cast a fish hook made from his grandmother's jawbone.
I enjoyed reading this book because the book tells how Maui fished up the north island.
Story Arch
Then, I did the Rising Action Problems. The Rising Action Problems is where an event happens with an arguement.
Then, I did the Climax. The Climax is the main point of the story.
Then, I did the Success or Failure. The Success or Failure is what happened, good or bad.
Lastly, I did the Resolution. The Resolution is fixing the problem so things are back to normal, even when changes are occured.

I read 32 pages of (Jedi Academy, Revenge of the sis) by Jarrett J. Krosoczka & Amy Ignatow.
This book shows, the Pokemon hot air balloon race is on. And the prize is a rare Dratini. Windy could have won- but Team Rocket took the wind out of the sails.

I read 1 chapter and 4 pages of (Jedi Academy, Revenge of the sis) by Jarrett J. Krosoczka & Amy Ignatow.
This book shows, Christina Graduated from the Jedi Academy from the campus on coruscant and is now at the Jedi Academy at Jedha City. The time she's been there she has been given an assignment but screwed it up, now Ro and her droid hates her for that because it was very important.
I really enjoyed the book because it shows the intresting adventure christina had.
Team Problem Solving
My team and I solved a problem. We solved the problem in three stratgies. The stratagies were place value, written algoritim, and Times Table.
The problem was, A candy store put 9 jars of lollies for a guessing competition. Each jar contained 63 lollies. How many lollies are there altogether?
9 x 63 = 567
I found this hard but enjoyed it because it can help me with solving equations.

Basic Facts
I had 97% on subtraction up to 20, my timer was 5min, 37sec, 11 millisec.
Next time I do basic Facts I should practise more and increase my time to get up to 100.

Steps Web
I did Steps Web activitys.
First I had to Listen to the word then place the letters in the correct order inside the boxes. This activity was called Drop.
Then I did a activity called Syllables. For this task Words have been broken into syllables. Drag the syllables together to make the words from the wordlist. The words will only snap together when they're correct.
I enjoyed Steps Web because it makes me understand new words.
Cube in Space
I created a art pattern called Cube in Space
Team Problem Solving.
The problem was, A farm received a total of 119 millimetres of rain over a 2 month period. If 48 millimetres of rain fell on the farm in June, how many millimetres of rain fell on the farm in month 2?
The first stratagy we used was place value.
9 - 8 = 1
10 - 40 is not possible so we have to add the hundred to the ten.
110 - 40 = 70.
The last step is to combine the answers. 70 + 1 = 71, 71 millimetres fell on the farm on the second month.
I found this hard but enjoyed it because it can help me with solving equations.

Problem solving
First we start by adding the ones together 4+6=10+7 =17.
Next we add the tens which are 20+20+10=50. Now we add the answers together 17+50=67.
Now we know that she practised for 67 minutes. So now we subtract 67 from 90. 0-7 is impossible to do so we do 10-7=3.
Lastly we do 80-60=20 then we add it together which equals 23 so Leilani needs to practise for another 23 minutes.
I didn't really know what to do so I looked at other peoples and tried getting my own understanding of it.

Madlibs
My group and I did an activity called madilibs. We had to write down: a girls name, a colour, a kitchen utensil, an action you do to someone, a number under 10, a pop star, and an eating utensil.
First, we wrote down a girl name and a kitchen utensil. The girl name was Jessica and the kitchen utensil was a fork.
Next we wrote down a colour and an action you do to someone. The colour was green and the action was a slap
Then we wrote down a number under 10 and a pop star.. Our number was 5 and the pop star was Micheal Jackson
Lastly we wrote down an eating utensil. The eating utensil was a spoon.
Once there was a girl named Jessica. She was at the mall shopping for forks. She overheard the announcer sponsoring an event saying that there would be a contest coming up. The winner gets to slap the one and only Michael Jackson. She loved Michael Jackson! She was Michael Jackson's biggest fan! She ran right over to where the people were. She found out that to win you had to find ten items. She was great at scavenger hunts. She found the first 5 easily. She struggled with the next few. She finally found her last item, a Green Spoon. She ran up and found out she was the first finished. She ran up to the stage and slapped Michael Jackson. She went home smiling from ear to ear. It was the best day of her life.

Tom Gate Spectacular School Trip Really...

If Tom gets a sad face on the class achievement chart the class wouldn’t be going to a school trip. Mums gone 1970’s and Dads got a novelty car.
I really enjoyed the book because it shows How tom is going through and how stressed out he is.

Why you should stop RACISM
First I thought of what topic I will use to persuade my audience of what I will be talking about. I wrote down the things I will use to persuade my audience and I picked why we should stop racism. I wrote down all the ideas of why we should stop rasicm.
Finally I got links to different topics about my topic. An example: According to this site before 1964 restaurants wouldn’t let dark skinned people stay and eat there, they would tell them to order take out and leave.
I learned a lot about Why racism is bad and I have to stop it.
Too much Technology
In the beginning, I made a synthesis doc and filled out 3 boxes. The 3 boxes were called prior knowledge, new information and new understandings.
Afterwards I read an article called Too Much Technology. It's about the author trying to convince the audience that too much technology is bad for you.
To finish up I made a QAR doc that had four boxes. The four boxes were called right there, on my own, author and you and think and search. I had to answer 10 questions and put the answers in the boxes.
I learned a lot about technology being bad for you.

Swimming week 3
First we did back floating. Back floating helps us breathe when we float. To back float keep your head facing up, stomach above the water, hands beside your side, and kick.
Next we did back strokes. To backstroke, float on your back and wave your arms in circles backwards.
To finish up we did a dolphin dive. To do a dolphin dive, put your hands on top of each other and dive so you can touch the floor.
I enjoyed it because I learned a lot of new skills to help me in case I get stuck in a ripe place.
Inquiry
Next I made slides including Olympic sports. I chose archery.
Finally I wrote down all the things that olympics athletes would do.
I enjoyed This activity because I like to see what I do in my spare time.

Pointless, Painful, Physical, Education
First, I did the Synthesis activity. I had to fill in my prior knowledge in what I already know about what the text is about, I had to read the new information in the text, and I had to combine both of the catogories into a new understandings.
After, I did a QAR activity. I had to read 10 questions and put them in the correct box with an answer. They are, right there, think and search, author and you, and on my own.
Right there is the answer could be found right in the text.
Think and search is the answer is in the text but you may have to look at different places to find the answer.
Author and you is the answer is not in the text. You have to use your own knowledge and what the author has told you to not come up with the answer.
On my own is the answer is not in the text. You could even come up with your own answer if you didn't read the text. You need to use your own background knowledge and thinking skills to come up with an answer.
I enjoyed this activity because I used my own prior knowledge to read the text.

Skip Counting and Repeated Addition
We learnt how to use skip counting and repeated addition to figure out the multiplication and division problem.
Pursuasive Topics
In the beginning, I Brainstormed topics that are related to me and a group of people. For example, Less money to pay bills and more time with friends.
Next, I brainstormed topics that relate to the world. For example, Stop racism.
Lastly, we colour coded our topics like traffic lights. Green means that is a good topic, Yellow means slow down because it isn’t interesting, and Red means stop because we’re going into problems.
I learned a lot about how to persuade someone.

PBS vs Olympics
First we did an activity called this vs that. We had to compare the olympic creed, the motto, the values, and the flag to PBS. We had to find out the olympic creed and motto to be able to compare the motto.
Next we did a slide deck about the differences and the similarities. For example: The Olympic creed and the PBS Whakatauki. They are both formal statements which use christian beliefs.
Afterwards we did our own logo and our own motto. My motto was life is what you make it.
What is persuading
Second, we watched a video on how to persuade. One of the advice they gave was to listen to what the other person says.
To finish up I made a poster of what persuading means and what argument means. I made an example of what it looks like from someone's POV.
I learned a lot about how to persuade and win an argument.
Statistical investigation.
First made data of how many blog post my group we checked our blogs to see how many blog posts we had in each month.
Next we drew a data table that has all the information. January has 0 blog posts, February has 15 blog posts, March 51 blog posts, April has 50 blog posts, May has 86 blog posts, June has 57 blog posts, and July has 17 blog posts.
To finish up made a bar graph and a pie chart. After that we wrote 3 statements about the information. The statements are January is the lowest because we had school holidays. May, June, and March are the most because we were at school for a whole month. July is also the lowest because we only had 2 weeks of school
I enjoyed it because I learnt new things about statistics

Fanboys, sentences and grammar.
First we made two posters explaining the simple sentences and the compound sentences. A simple sentence is only explaining one piece of information. A compound sentence is two sentences with a conjunction.
Next we created a presentation about punctuation marks. For example: Full stop, exclamation mark, comma, question mark, etc.
To finish up we made a fanboys slide and a grammar slide. We had to cut all the incorrect words and put them into the incorrect words space. All the words were homophones. Which means it sounds the same but has a different meaning and sound.
I learned a lot about punctuation, grammer, and fanboys.

Times Table | Basic Facts
Next time I should increase my speed and answer the multiplication correctly.
Addition and Subtraction
Addition and Subtraction can be solved by two strategies: counting on/back, rounding and compensating.
Counting on is adding forward using fingers, when the number added is under ten. Counting back is subtracting using fingers, when the the number subtracted is under ten.
Rounding and compensating is rounding the added or subtracted number to the nearest tidy number, then compensating for the rounding. Compensating is done by splitting the new number into the old number and the leftover.
Counting on/back and rounding and compensating are easy strategies to use for addition and subtraction, when numbers get too big to be solved with basic facts.

Finished Party Popper
In the beginning, the Four Amigos drew the design for the party popper, we drew a game for the design because our market is gamers. We coloured the design and then cut it out.
Afterwards we glued the design onto our cup, we then put our parts together for the party popper. We tested the party popper and it surprisingly worked.
To finish up after we tested our party popper we showed it to our teacher. After we showed the teacher he told us to show the principal of the school. When we showed the party popper to the principal he told us what the science was behind it and was really impressed
I enjoyed it because we showed our principal and were really impressed by the party popper.

Four Amigo's Party Popper
In the beginning, our group thought of ideas on what the updates were for the party popper design. We planned the updated design for the cup, rubber band and the weight for a big plastic cup, medium rubber band and a bolt. We then thought of other ideas for the designs in case they went wrong.
Afterwards we tested each object to see if they would work for a party popper. We then recorded the results and put it on a google sheet.
To finish up we assembled the parts that worked best for a party popper design. When we put the parts together we took a picture and then took it apart.
I enjoyed The experience of making a party popper. Next time I would use better confetti and a better weight to explode higher.

Table Tennis Balance
Today we were using table tennis equipment to help us with balance.
Mr Ogilvie showed us how to hold the tabble tennis bat properly. Hold the handle like shaking a hand and put one finger on the flat platform like using a gun..
Then we were bouncing the ball on the racket with the forehand. I was bouncing the ball 53 times.
Then we were bouncing the ball on the racket with the backhand. I was bouncing the ball 32 times.
Lastly we were playing a game of table tennis with the challenger and the champion. The challenger got to serve, the serve name was called a drop serve. We had to drop the ball and hit it up after it bounced.
I had lots of fun playing table tennis because it helped me learn how to properly hold a racket and drop serve.
Memory
This week I played a game that we got to remember where certain cards are.
We played a game where there are cards and have to flip 2 cards, if the 2 cards aren't the same you flip them over, if you found the same cards you have to say what the picture is in maori. I had no cards that were the same.
Then I looked up on maori dictonary what things were in pictures.

Mozzarella Cheese
My first introduction was a basis fact. A basic fact is something that is true. Mozzarella cheese is a dairy product and is made by buffalo milk, heat the milk, cool the cheese, soften the cheese and stretch the cheese.
The next Introduction was a question hook. A question hook is telling the reader something they don't know about the topic. Did you know that mozzarella cheese has more protein than cheddar cheese and is made from different milks.
Chronology
I learnt about skimming and scanning.
Chronology means an order in time that event is occured. We used the learning skill called skimming and scanning. Skimming is like an airplane and skipping through the text to find a keyword, Scanning is like a helicopter and stop to look at that specific paragraph or information that you need.
First we used skimming to look a pictures to figure out how they would connect.
Then we applied skimming to find keywords and scanning to find facts in chronological order.
I enjoyed this activity because we used skimming, skanning and chronology to help do are work easier.

Measurement-Length
I learnt about length measurement.
First we wrote four of the measurements, the abbreviations, and how many measurements make another measurement. For exampe, 100 cm = 1 m.
Second I watched a video on how to measure different objects without a ruler or a measuring tape.
Lastly I found an object to estimate the length and to measure the actual length of the object.
I enjoyed the subject because learnt the units of measurement.

Party Popper Design
We did marketing for toys.
First we looked at Mr Wongs design for a party popper. Then Mr Wong told us to make a plan for the party popper.
Next we listed the parts for Mr Wongs design, Our market was gamers, the parts for the design were a plastic cup (small), a rubber band, folded paper, confitii and a tooth pick.
We then did the updated design for Mr Wongs party popper. The updated design parts we listed were a bigger plastic cup, a fortnite design, a bigger rubber band, cardboard, bigger confitii and a tooth pick.
Lastly we did rational, we had to get a reason why we chose new parts for the updated design.
This task was easy because our group were able to think of a design for the party popper.

I did speed demon for times table. I got 5 minutes 21 seconds to complete it and also got 90/100.
Next time I do a basic facts I should increase my time into 4 minutes or 2 minutes.

During our HPE activity group B weren't able to follow the values because everyone was not following the instructions, playing with the equipment and not doing what they're supposed to do.
Flip, Slide, Turn.
There are 3 different sorts of movements. Those 3 movments are reflection, rotation and tranlation.
A flip/reflection is creating a mirror image of something.
A rotate/turn is something that is facing in different directions.
A translation/slide is moving something to a any position.
