I am a Year 6 student at Panmure Bridge School, Auckland, New Zealand. My teachers are Mr Wong and Mr Ogilvie.
Today I did the Thursday Workout. The Thursday Workout was just riding on an exersice bike.[
First, I Turned on the bike and started the timer exactl the same time of when it started.
Today we were using table tennis equipment to help us with balance.
Mr Ogilvie showed us how to hold the tabble tennis bat properly. Hold the handle like shaking a hand and put one finger on the flat platform like using a gun..
Then we were bouncing the ball on the racket with the forehand. I was bouncing the ball 53 times.
Then we were bouncing the ball on the racket with the backhand. I was bouncing the ball 32 times.
Lastly we were playing a game of table tennis with the challenger and the champion. The challenger got to serve, the serve name was called a drop serve. We had to drop the ball and hit it up after it bounced.
I had lots of fun playing table tennis because it helped me learn how to properly hold a racket and drop serve.
CONFEDENCE
We have the confedence to take risks with our learning and to share our learning with others, we are focused on our future.
ATTITUDE
We show a positive attitude to our learning by making good choices and we participate in all oppotunitys.
RESPECT
We are tolerant and respectful af all people in our community and take care of our enviroment.
EXCELLENCE & INNOVATION
We set ourself's challenging goals, share ideas, and think about our learning.
During our HPE activity group B weren't able to follow the values because everyone was not following the instructions, playing with the equipment and not doing what they're supposed to do.
This week I learnt about balancing.
First we started passing the hokeyball. We were rolling and hitting the hokey ball while balancing.
It was hard because the balancing made me shake and I missed the ball.
Next we moved on to balancing an egg on a spoon. We were placing the spoon on the floor and used power to get it up while balancing.
This was hard because my balancing made me wobble and I dropped the egg.
After we moved on to balancing a soccerball. We were balancing a soccerball on our heads and also kicked the ball as many times while balancing.
This was not easy to do because the ball couldn't balance on my head.
This was fun to do because I kept my balancing straight so I could hit the ball.
Lastly we moved on to tennis. One partner had to throw the tennis ball and the person who is hitting the ball has to balance.
Hitting the ball was the hardest because the balancing made me wobble and couldn't keep myself straight.
This week I was passing balls to my partner while balancing
First our group started passing a netball to each person in the group by passing the netball from our chest to the other person.
I enjoyed passing the netball but it was hard because I wasn't balancing very well so I wouldn't catch the ball.
I enjoyed it because I was balancing very well so I could catch the ball.
Then our group moved on to passing the hokey ball by one of the group members rolling the hokey ball and the other group member stoping the ball and hitting it to the other group member.
It was fun but I couldn't catch the ball because the balancing made me shake so I could miss the ball.
After our group moved on to passing and catching the frisby by facing forward to my partner and passing the from our side of the hip and throw it.
I enjoyed it but it was very hard because I couldn't catch my balance.
Lastly our group moved on to passing the basket ball to another person in the group by dribling the ball and passing it from your chest.
I enjoyed it but the dribling messed up my balance.
I found my tipping point by playing a game.
First we revised what tipping point is. A tipping point is when you are about to fall over.
The game we played was basically twister but we got to hold our balance from the postitions.
I enjoyed it but it was hard because I was struggling to balance.
We did balancing activities in our enviroment
The first photo was balancing on a wall.
The next photo was balancing on the school playground.
The third photo was the people in your group balancing on each other.
The forth photo was trying to balance with the least amount of contact with the people in your group.
I enjoyed the activity but I needed to be alot better at balancing.
Group B got to balance in different ways and tried different techniques to try not to fall.
First Mr Ogilvie taught group B about what balancing is and postitions to not fall. Balancing is to find your tipping point so you won't fall.
The first activity group B did was to balance on a bench. We had to get past the other people on the bench.
The second activity group B did was to balance on a soccer ball for as long as possible. My partners stood on the ball up to 5 seconds but lost balance many times.
I thought balancing on the ball was the hardest because I lost balance many times.
Teamwork is a term to describe a group of people working together to achieve a goal.
Teamwork consists of three main mechanisms.
Communication is sharing ideas with others. Use a sign to communicate with a teammate so they could do something. In dodgeball an example of this is use hand jestures to warn a teamate a ball is coming their way.
Cooperation is letting a group know what someone is doing so they could follow on. For example in dodgeball someone is throwing multiple balls to each person in a team so they can attack the other team.
Collaboration is showing actions to teammates so they could work together. For example in dogdeball teamate will wave hands to another teammate to talk with them.
(This video shows the mechanism of communication.)(This video shows the mechanism of collaboration.)
To be successful as a team all three mechanisms need to be implemented throughout the activity.

This week we went to practise AFL with coach Andre.
First we practised how to pass an AFL ball to our partner, On your non Dominant hand you have to face your hand up and put it flat which is where you put the ball and have to make a fist with your dominant hand and have to hit the ball with that hand.
Next we also practised kicking, we had to get an AFL ball and make a M with your hands and get the laces away from your face so when you kick you don't hit your face. when you kick you hit your foot on the X part of the ball.
Then coach Andre taught us how to tackle in the AFL way, when we tackle we had to go on our knees and the person that had the ball has to defend it and the other person gets to bear hug the person so they could get the ball.
Lastly we learnt how to do a ruck, there were three people and one of the three people get to throw the ball up while the other two has to tip the ball while its coming down .
I had fun practicing the skills of AFL and the new skills, when I kick I need to get better at aiming the ball at my partner so I won't miss them.
On Wednesday we went to practise AFL with coach Mike.

Then we played Octopus, There were 4 taggers that got a ball and anyone that runs by they throw the ball at them in order for them to stop. if someone wants to free them they hi five them so they could get to the other side. We finished by practicing kicking the ball at our teacher and the coach!
I really enjoyed the this because we got to learn skills about AFL.
Kia ora.
